An Elegant and rustic Garden for a Bed and Breakfast in Feucherolles

In Feucherolles, HORUS Paysages took on an ambitious challenge: transforming a 6,500 m² plot into a rustic garden that offers a peaceful haven. Inspired by the site’s rural past, the design combines meadows, orchards, and woodlands to create an ecosystem in harmony with its surroundings.

A Rustic Garden That Disconnects from the Urban World

The first step was to soften the urban presence and immerse the occupants in a natural, calming environment. The garden needed to provide a visual and sensory escape for its owners.

  • Creating a wooded green cocoon: Dense and varied vegetation masks neighboring buildings. This natural enclosure preserves privacy while creating a warm atmosphere.
  • Preserving an open view of the countryside: A visual opening was kept to the west. This point directs the gaze toward a rural panorama, enhancing the feeling of escape.
  • Drawing inspiration from rural landscapes: By avoiding modern decorations, the garden offers “scenes” that recall the landscapes of the past.

As a result, this design creates a space where luxury lies in the quality of the surrounding nature, promoting reconnection with the place, far from the urban bustle.

Organizing Functions in a Simple and Harmonious Layout

A functional garden must meet the varied needs of its users. Here, different zones (tennis, spa, vegetable garden, orchard) fit together in a fluid, aesthetic framework.

  • Subtle transitions between spaces: Each zone is delineated by smooth transitions, whether through changes in terrain, topography, or vegetation. These boundaries organize the space without interrupting the visual flow.
  • Natural materials for paths: Gravel, wood, and stone paths invite visitors to wander. These materials integrate into the landscape while making it easy to move between areas.
  • Discreet integration of leisure areas: Tennis and spa are not isolated but are blended into the garden. Natural elements surround them, offering a relaxing, cohesive atmosphere.

This layout ensures smooth circulation and visual harmony. Every space is designed to maximize the owners’ comfort while blending into the landscape.

A Plant-Based Ecosystem: A Mix of Native and Naturalized Species

The plant selection in this garden was made with care. Each plant contributes to the ecological balance and the garden’s overall aesthetic.

  • Native species for ecology: Local plants like oak and field maple are suited to the climate. Their robustness reduces maintenance and promotes biodiversity.
  • Poetic touches with naturalized species: Anemones, perovskias, and grasses add color and varied textures. These plants create a unique and captivating atmosphere.
  • Homage to the site’s orchard past: The site, once home to a large orchard, retains this history. Fruit trees, reintroduced in a modern arrangement, provide both aesthetic and practical value.

As a result, this plant selection gives the garden a lively, authentic character. The plantings flow together to create varied scenes through the seasons.

Rediscovering the Rural Past Through Natural Scenes

Every garden tells a story. This one draws inspiration from the site’s rural past, creating spaces that evoke emotions.

  • Country walk punctuated by “vegetal scenes”: Flowering meadows, orchards, and shady spots follow one another. Each space offers a unique atmosphere, inviting a slow, calming exploration.
  • Materials in harmony with history: Raw wood, natural stone, and gravel recall traditional elements of rural landscapes. They add subtle authenticity.
  • Evocation of the historic orchard: The fruit trees and flowering meadows bring the former orchard back to life. This poetic touch strengthens the link between the past and the present.

These natural scenes engage the senses and promote full immersion. Their design remains elegant and structured.

A Sustainable and Easy-to-Maintain Rustic Garden

For a high-end client, luxury also means practicality. This project includes sustainable, environmentally-friendly solutions.

  • Natural space management: The meadows and woodlands require little watering and upkeep. Intensive lawns are limited to conserve resources.
  • Plants suited to the climate: Robust, self-sufficient native species require minimal care. They ensure the garden remains lush year-round.
  • Partnership with experts: The garden is built and maintained by specialists. Their expertise ensures the longevity of the installations and the healthy growth of plants.

Thanks to these choices, the garden stays beautiful with minimal intervention. It becomes a sustainable space that aligns with modern expectations.

This rustic garden, designed by HORUS Paysages for the Val Trebbia Bed and Breakfast, is more than just a green space. It embodies a vision where luxury, nature, and simplicity meet to create a unique place. Inspired by the site’s history, it revives its rural heritage while addressing contemporary needs.

With its meadows, orchards, and woodlands, this garden offers a sensory and emotional experience. Each element fits into a harmonious ecosystem that blends aesthetics with functionality.
