In the context of our projects involving natural woodlands, we decided to visit a specialized nursery focusing on forest plants. We traveled to Prechac to visit Naudet Nurseries and discover their expertise in forestry. In this article, we will share our experience and highlight the advantages offered by these specialized nurseries in terms of plant quality and advice for creating natural and environmentally-friendly gardens.
The History of Naudet Nurseries
Naudet Nurseries were founded in 1876 by Edouard Naudet, a gardener in Leuglay, Bourgogne. In 1914, his son Georges Naudet took over and expanded the business. In 1924, after Georges Naudet’s passing, the operation continued under Henri Naudet and Robert Naudet, known as Naudet Frères. Over the following years, Naudet Nurseries experienced significant growth, including the establishment of the Lordonnois nursery in 1930, the Alligny en Morvan nursery in 1954, and the Arnay-le-Duc nursery in 1957.
In the 1980s, Naudet Nurseries further expanded their activities and created new subsidiaries. They established the Pépinière du Luberon in Charleval in 1982, the Autun nursery in 1984, and the Franco-Portuguese subsidiary ARBOFOR specializing in reforestation. In 2005, they acquired Pépinières CLEMENDOT in Chéu, and in 2011, they constructed production greenhouses for Maritime Pine in Préchac, covering an area of 3 hectares.
These key moments have shaped the history of Naudet Nurseries and positioned them as a major player in the field of forest plants. Today, with over 140 years of experience, Naudet Nurseries continue to provide high-quality plants and maintain their commitment to the environment and sustainable landscaping.
